LAHORE, (Hayat News): Secretary of Punjab’s Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, Nadia Saqib, has called for heightened efforts by polio vaccination teams on the campaign’s final day to maximize outreach. She issued these directives during an online review meeting on Friday, covering the campaign’s fourth-day progress.
Head of Punjab’s Anti-Polio Program, Rana Adeel Tasawur, provided an update on the campaign’s status. Saqib directed officials to actively engage with field teams, encouraging health CEOs and other leaders to document their actions meticulously. She stressed the importance of “catch-up day” to reach any unvaccinated children and urged district officials to spend ample time in the field to enhance campaign outcomes.
Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed (EPI Director), Dr. Muhammad Khalil (IRMNCH Director), and health CEOs from across Punjab attended the meeting virtually. The nationwide campaign aims to vaccinate over 45 million children, a crucial task given that 43 cases of polio and virus traces in environmental samples have been reported in 20 districts across Pakistan this year.
