ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage, and Culture, Attaullah Tarar, on Monday criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zaheer Abbas Khokhar for allegedly delaying proceedings at the Election Tribunal by repeatedly requesting adjournments.
Speaking in response to the latest development, Tarar pointed out that Zaheer Abbas Khokhar had once again sought an adjournment in his application challenging Tarar’s victory in the NA-127 constituency during the February 8 general elections.
Attaullah emphasized that his legal team was well-prepared and had submitted all necessary documentation. In contrast, he claimed, the opposing party had failed to present any evidence or proof to support their case.
“Zaheer Abbas Khokhar is avoiding the court and trying to delay proceedings. If he truly had evidence, why would he repeatedly ask for adjournments?” Attaullah questioned.
He accused Khokhar of attempting to escape legal scrutiny and wasting the tribunal’s time. Tarar urged the PTI candidate to admit the lack of evidence if none existed, rather than dragging out the process unnecessarily.
Attaullah also criticized the PTI leadership’s alleged pattern of filing cases and then avoiding proceedings by seeking continuous delays. “This behavior has become a hallmark of the PTI’s approach to legal challenges,” he remarked.
